CARDIFF MAS CARNIVAL 2008
“BEHIND THE MASK”
South Wales Intercultural Community Arts (SWICA) and the 19th annual
Cardiff MAS Carnival brings Cardiff City Centre alive with hundreds of
flamboyant costumers and carnival creations, masks and headpieces, giant
puppets on backpacks and mobile sculptures - all dancing dramatically
through the streets of Cardiff with a finale presentation at The Big
Weekend on City hall Lawns.
Cardiff MAS Carnival 2008 is called "BEHIND THE MASK" and
will use masks from across the globe to explore issues of Cultural
Identity.
During Carnival your everyday 'mask' slips so expect a cavalcade of
Giant masks as the masqueraders reveal their true selves ...
Wales’ biggest and brightest carnival parades feature hundreds of
flamboyant costumes and creations, masks and headpieces, giant puppets on
backpacks and mobile sculptures taking to the streets – along with a
crescendo of samba drumming, melodious steelpan and hi-energy streetdance.
