MYTHS, MINES AND MEMORIES Using celebratory and participatory arts workshops the project re-united the community of Coed Cae with its own heritage and traditions. The project focused on the transformation of the area as a result of the Industrial Revolution. However it takes the extraordinary journals of ‘prophet’ REV. EDMUND JONES including his supernatural myth-based pre-Industrial geography of the area as its starting point – before dealing with Industrialisation and its aftermath. The project involved over three months of creative arts workshops: Workshops included: Design & making Shadow puppetry Storytelling Songwriting Dance Music (including introduction to traditional Welsh instruments) Drama The project involved two local schools (infants and primary), the youth clubs – as well as the local Blaina Heritage Action Group. It culminated in an innovative multi-disciplinary performance outcomes as well as a large-scale multimedia community performance, song cycle recorded on CD and educational CD ROM and Teacher’s Pack as part of the project’s lasting legacy.   click here to see feedback from the project
